Spyro Gyra
Spyro Gyra rose from humble beginnings in a Tuesday night jam session in Buffalo, New York, organized by saxophonist Jay Beckenstein and friends in 1974 to its current international prominence in the jazz world. One of the most consistently commercially successful groups to emerge from the fusion era, Spyro Gyra broke through in the mid-’70s, anchored by hits such as “Morning Dance” and “Catching the Sun.” Five decades in, Spyro Gyra has logged more than 10,000 shows on six continents and released 35 albums, garnering platinum and gold records and 13 Grammy nominations along the way. The band’s energy and joy in concert continue to match its unmatched musicality.
